Enjoy! "As I sort through my wood to find the perfect piece for a handle, I am amazed at the amount of quality material that has come from you, especially in my [native] Australian timbers. I just wanted to thank you for that contribution to my efforts. Also, yours is the only wood that is consistently dry, flat, and well prepared, and that saves me loads of time!"

Olive wood is a very hard tight grain wood with pours virtually
non-existent. It is smooth to the touch, sands easily and takes
a fine finish. Old wood like this often contains natural voids
that skilled craftsmen fill with
Cyanoacrylate [super or ca]
glue of various viscosity and wood dust from sanding. However,
as you can see, these are high grade wood with very few flaws.
The colorful elements are well placed on the face and go
straight through these fine all heartwood scales.

Old Dry Wood
All Heart
Desert Ironwood Olneya tesota
This is one of the hardest and densest of woods. The heartwood
color is gold and darkens with age to chocolate brown with dark striping.
The best color comes from ancient logs weathered on the desert
floor. It often contains defects that skilled craftsmen fill with
cyanoacrylate [super or ca] glue of various viscosity and wood dust from
sanding. Desert Ironwood takes a beautiful, glassy-smooth polish. It often
imparts an intense chatoyant gem glow.
Amboyna Pterocarpus macrocarpus
These are about as good as it gets and any one of them will make
the finest knife handle. They all exhibit extreme curl, tight
pin, and excellent color. They are totally ripped.

Black mulga is a knife makers dream come true. It is a very hard desert dwelling cousin of Hawaiian
koa, Acacia koa, and it comes from the arid outback of
Western Australia. Black mulga is rarer than snakewood and harder
than ebony. It is similar to koa, although it is harder and tighter
grained and is usually darker in color. It is highly chatoyant and
richly colored. A true gem wood - the curls flicker and glow as you
roll it in the light.
Ceylon Satinwood,
Chloroxylon swietenia extra tight Beeswing figure
Ceylon satinwood is a very hard colorfast exotic wood that is as
beautiful to look at as it is to touch. These beauties show extra
tight three dimensional beeswing figure that is highly chatoyant and
it flickers and shines like a gem stone when you roll it in the
light. This is
the very best figure this wood has to offer and it is well suited
for use as knife handles.
Purpleheart,
Peltogyne paniculata
Purpleheart is a strong hard wood with wonderful purple
color that becomes richer with age and exposure. It's tough stuff
and good looking too.
