"As I sort through my wood to find the perfect piece for a handle, I am amazed at the amount of quality material that has come from you, especially in my [native] Australian timbers. I just wanted to thank you for that contribution to my efforts. Also, yours is the only wood that is consistently dry, flat, and well prepared, and that saves me loads of time!"

Gabon Ebony
Diospyros crassiflora
These are very black gabon ebony thick wide scab cuts [nicely milled on
one side] from the outside of the log and unfinished shorts. They are
chunky cuts of random size up to four
feet long and may taper. They are covered with dust from the shop but this
is some of the blackest Gabon ebony available. It is completely dry
old stock suitable for high quality production; knife handles, box parts, jewelry
making, trim, etc.
|
Ceylon Ebony
Diospyros ebenum
These are slowly air-dried stress relieved log sections and billets.
Not wet green wood. This is same superior stock that all of our
milled Ceylon ebony comes from. They are large sizes for this wood.
They are rough cut and dusty. Including the old cracks.

Amboyna Burl
Pterocarpus macrocarpus
This big chunk of goodness can
easily become one of your finest turnings ever. Every
indication is that this burl will turn out completely
clear with pin faced all the way around. As you can see
it is extremely high-grade and colorful burl wood. The sapwood is sweetly
spalted (as only time can provide) and is just the right
thickness for that peek-a-boo burl look. It was cut on an inclusion line
that will turn out in the end.
Can you say Dragons Blood? This is very hard old growth
wood. Harder than most other woods but not quite as hard
as ironwood. It is fully seasoned, dry and stable. Mills
and drills extremely well. Sands like a dream and
polishes to a high luster.
