Argentina Lignum Vitae,
Bulnesia sarmienti
| Great smelling, ultra-hard and good looking wood for
incredible knife handles. These blocks have the chatoyant chevron
pattern on the sides and are flat sawn faced so the grains and their strong color variegations
will unfold nicely on your finished work. Lignum vitae is the
densest wood that there is and these have a specific gravity [1.31].

Wandoo Burl,
Eucalyptus wandoo
| With a specific gravity of [1.09] Eucalyptus wandoo is one
of the hardest woods in the world. It comes from the arid outback of
Western Australia only where it grows slowly and old. It is a very
colorful tough wood with unmatched bold good looks. It is hard
like lignum vitae yet not oily. It responds well to finishes and
glue and is not easily dented. The heavy weight of this strong wood
feels great in your hand. It is very nice, well crenulated wood,
indeed. Rare. |
