Acacia Citrinoviridis
[Black Mulga, Desert
Acacia, River Jam, Milhan, Wantan, Ironwood]
Black mulga is hard dense and stable desert
acacia ironwood. This rare wood is the desert
dwelling cousin of Hawaiian, Acacia koa,
and it comes from the arid outback of Western
Australia. Black mulga is a slow growing tree
and it is rarer than snakewood and harder than
ebony. It is a knife makers dream come true.
Black mulga looks a lot like koa
although it is harder and tighter grained
slightly darker in color. Both are acacias.
Black Mulga is often found to be highly chatoyant.
